CrateFlux Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

CrateFlux works on your music on your phone only. It collects no personal data, and has no accounts, ads or analytics.

CrateFlux is an Android app for DJs that turns a folder of new music into a crate you sort by swiping. It was previously called CrateSwipe. It is made by DeepDrill, who also makes DropSight. This policy explains what CrateFlux does with your data, in plain words.

CrateFlux does not collect, upload, sell or share your music, your listening or any personal information. It has no accounts, advertising or analytics of its own. The only exceptions are Google’s own purchase library and Google Play’s update check, which Google runs; see Buying Pro and Updates below.

Your music

You choose a folder with Android’s folder picker. CrateFlux reads the tracks in it to play them, detect their tempo, key and sections, and read their tags. All of this happens on your phone.

When you sort a track, it is moved into a Keep or Rejected folder inside the folder you chose, and the app writes a genre and, optionally, an energy rating into the file’s tags. CrateFlux never deletes anything.

While a tag is being saved, the app keeps a temporary working copy of that one file in its private storage, so an interrupted save can always be undone. The copy is deleted as soon as the save completes. Your audio files, their contents and their tags are never sent anywhere.

What the app stores on your device

  • Your chosen folder’s location and your Keep and Rejected counts.
  • Your settings, including, if you use the Pro share card, the set name and social handles you type.
  • Whether you’ve accepted the terms.
  • A cache of detected BPM and key, so tracks don’t need analysing again.
  • Whether Pro is unlocked. That is the only thing it remembers about a purchase.

This stays in the app’s private storage and is removed if you uninstall the app. If you have Android’s own backup switched on, Android may copy these settings to your Google account’s backup. That is done by Android, not by CrateFlux, and never includes your music.

Buying Pro

The optional Pro unlock is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, handled entirely by Google Play. Google processes the payment and holds the purchase record. CrateFlux never sees your card or payment details, only Google’s confirmation that Pro is owned.

Google’s billing library, which is part of the app, may also send Google technical diagnostics about how the purchase went. That is covered by Google’s own privacy policy.

Updates

When you open the app, Google Play may check whether a newer version of CrateFlux is available and offer to download it. That check is made by the Google Play Store, using your installed app version, and is covered by Google’s own privacy policy. CrateFlux itself sends nothing. Apart from Google’s purchase and update features, the app does not contact anything over the network.

Sharing and links

Playlists, prep sheets and set cards are made on your phone and saved where you choose. One only leaves your phone if you send it somewhere yourself, through Android’s share sheet or by opening it in another app, and then that app’s own policy applies.

Settings › About links to the developer’s website and social accounts. A link opens in your browser or that service’s app only when you tap it, and CrateFlux itself sends nothing.

Permissions explained

  • Notifications: to show the playback controls, so music keeps playing when you switch apps.
  • Media playback in the background: keeps your music playing when you leave the app.
  • Google Play billing: for buying or restoring Pro. The update check needs no extra permission.
  • Network access: declared by Google’s billing libraries for their own use. CrateFlux’s own code does not use it.

CrateFlux does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or access to all your files.

Children

CrateFlux is a general-audience music tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Contact and changes

Because CrateFlux collects no personal data, there is nothing held by the developer for you to request, correct or delete. Your purchase history is held by Google Play.
